Key Fob Question: I know, I know...
I know you have all read this same question a thousand times; and mine is likely no different, but my search of the forums didn’t exactly answer my question.
I remind you...I am a new LR owner...so it is quite possible that I am a complete idiot when it comes to some of the questions I am going to be asking...so please bare that in mind when responding.
I likely do not have the “original” LR key that came with my Disco. I couldn’t figure out why the fob wasn’t opening the doors; so I popped the case and...what do you know, no guts.
I have come to realize after much research that you can buy dummy fobs with blank blades...I’m sure that is what happened. I also know you can find the occasional genuine new fob for $100 or so, used $70 or go to the dealer and get raped for $250+.
what I have not been so clear on is programming / reprogramming. I watched a YouTube video from one of the dealers about the IRover app that says it can program / reprogram fobs. I saw some intricate instructions about a manual process where you “close the doors, roll down the windows, roll up the windows, kick your dog, scream at your wife (maybe it was kick your wife, and scream at your dog)...” anyway you get the idea.
so is this “manual” process applicable to the Disco2? Can you actually reprogram a used Disco2 fob? Will any other diagnostic tool besides this IRover work? I’ve seen people mention this NanoCom device, but I can’t seem to actually find one for sale...what about the full service Snap-On diagnostic tool? It has a key programmer will it not work? It read all of my error codes when I hooked it up.
thanks

From what I've read and experienced only the Nanocom and Hawkeye diagnostic Tools actually can program the key fobs correctly with the 6 digit code a fixed to the fob circuit board. The Foxwell nt510 can't program and The iland can't program fobs

I can only answer this question based on using a Nanocom for re-programming keys....
You will need the 6-digit code which is usually found in a small taped sticker inside the circuit board of the key fob. The Nanocom uses this 6-digit key code to sync this key to the BCU (body control unit) of the specific truck. I got used key fob circuit boards from Paul Grant in the past. Paul is a reputable wrecker well know to guys in this forum.
Here is a Nanocom video showing the use of the 6-digit key code to re-program the key to a truck's BCU:

An other option
https://remotekey.co.uk/land-rover/l...ry-2-key-type/
I have one working fob and will very likely try Remotekey for a second one.
