Key Fob Stopped Working
Hello-
I saw some similar questions on the message boards, but nothing that was quite the same.
I recently had my battery die and afterwards the key fob would not work at all. I have to manually lock and unlock the doors every time.
Any ideas how to solve this. I am really hopeful it won't require a trip to the dealer to re-sync everything.
Thanks,
Dustin

No luck with the lock, unlock sequence. To clarify, the car battery was jumped, not replaced-- so it is not in backwards. I had it "tested" and was told it was fine.
Do you still think it could be the car battery?
Thank you

I think he was confused and thought you replaced the KEY FOB Battery, and had put that in backwards... Obviously not the car battery in backwards...
I've subscribed to this though as I have the exact situation. I replaced my start battery and the key fob has not worked since. The FOB is fine, battery is good, light comes on when buttons pushed. But just as the OP, after a dead start battery, it no longer works. How to re-sync them without dealer is the question? I've tried "turn key in door to lock and press the lock button on fob 5 times while red light inside is flashing" no luck for me. Any other ideas?

I gave in and went to the dealership and had both fobs resynced. $70 later the problem is fixed. They wanted to charge an hour labor, but settled on a half hour. It took 15 minutes.
Now to find someone that can cut a back up key that works. So far I am 0/4.

Maybe you need to approach the sales guys about buying new, but need to sell yours first, and the key FOB has to work for your interested party to even consider it. NAH, probably would not help. Really does depend on the dealership, and the person, and the Lucas weather gods!
Fob had suddenly just stopped working on 2016 Discovery Sport - tried your advice and seems OK now. Thanks for that tip...appreciated.
thanks to clarify.
I pressed unlock then lock (ie not simultaneously ) 5 times. After that (for a couple of days) 3 times unlock lock opened the car.In a further few days the locking went back to normal and now works on one press.
I cannot guarantee this will work for you but wish you good luck with this.I remain grateful to the original.poster (jfall I think).CheersTone111
