Default Key Replacement Website

Hi all,
We are down to 1 key for our 2006 LR3 and want to get a spare. The one we have is in real rough shape so we'd like one with the chip in it as well. I stumbled upon this site after becoming aware that a dealer is going to charge nearly $500 when all said and done with getting a replacement. Does anyone have any experience with this site? And how difficult will it be to find someone to program it? Thanks

You have posted in the wrong section, this is D2, not LR3. Im sure one of the mods will move it once they realize.

Anyways, I contacted them. What they are selling is a new, never coded to a vehicle remote. So it should work if you can find someone to code it for you.(LR dealer or indy shop with Autologic).

If you order a key from the dealer they will use your VIN number to cut they key, then they use their in house computer to code to the key to your vehicle. So, the remotes are not specific to your VIN, but once a remote has been mated to your vehicle, it can never be mated to another. That is why you can't buy a remote from Ebay used and have it coded to your LR3.

I believe the Dealer charges $250 for the remote with key blade cut, then another $180 to code.

If the vendor you sent a link to can cut your key, and ship to you with duties paid for less than $250, it is a deal. But, if it's not much less, you might want to just order the remote and cut key from the dealer and take to an indy shop for coding. I can code the remote if you are near So Cal.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I think I had 10 tabs open and didn't catch the forum area.

I'm going to do a bit more of research before I order it through them, it's a very new website and I'd love to find someone who has done business with them. Thanks!
