Default Keyless entry issues

Light comes on when button is pressed on the FOB

Key works to lock and unlock all doors when inserted

No horn or beeps when key is used to toggle door locks

Keyless locking/unlocking does not work at all

Does the receiver control horn/alarm beeps?

All fuses are good-- even replaced just to be sure

It never worked for you at all, or the problem just started?

I purchased the car a few months ago and it wasn't working when we purchased it. I have been doing the work it's needed in order of severity. Now, it's time for the more mundane things. LOL

Try the fob buttons while sitting in the back seat with the key near the roof. My receiver went out a few years ago and over a few months, the range would steadily decrease until I had to be right on the vehicle before it would pick up the signal. Got a scrapyard unit for cheap and it works fine now. My range has never been great though, 30-40 ft max.

Thanks! I will try that. Would the alarm beeps sound if the key is used in the door to lock the vehicle? I get no sounds.

No, mine never beeps. Although, if you use the fob to lock it and a door is open, the horn will sound as a warning.

Thanks! So, I'm expecting behaviour that doesn't exist, then? I.E. no warning honks stating alarm is armed?

Without knowing the history, the electronics/board in the fob could be bad.
It could be from another truck(physical key put into a shell from another truck), and/or never programmed.
And, all U.S D2's use a 315mhz key, not the 433mhz. You will need a Nanocom to program them too.

Try holding the key to your chin and see if that extends the range, seriously.
Your body acts like a bigger antenna to send/receive the signal.

You probably thought of this, but just in case, I suggest you check the battery in the key fob before looking for a more expensive fix. One of my fobs failed until I replaced the battery. My 2000 D2 only honks the horn when I try to lock it with a door open. Otherwise, no sound.
