Knock from left front

Default Knock from left front

I have a persistent knock from my left front wheel area when I turn the wheel and sometimes when I articulate slightly turning into my driveway. It is driving me nuts. I'm hoping for some ideas on how to figure out what it is.

I have all new (6 months or less old) ball joints, steering arm, Panhard rod, and hubs. The truck is aligned, by me, and tracks straight with no pulling.

I have zero help from anyone so I can't get the steering wheel turning and be under it at the same time. I know that's pitiful. I'm not a hermit but my otherwise all female family just can't be bothered.

I've checked all of the nuts on all of the ball joints. They are right and don't look like they've moved. The main ball joints are all in the right spot. What am I missing?

Shocks do make knocking noises..
especially over bumps, or articulate. dampening valves do go bad. Its not always ball joints.

just something to consider

Hahaha. They won't ride in the Rover anyway! They call it the blue turd (because I have a slightly smokey Mercedes diesel, which is brown, and is called the brown turd). I get no respect.

It all does come back to that as we all know. Haha.

I'm going to hire a homeless person, or get someone to help, tonight and see what I can find. The shocks seemed bolted tight and I have spring retainers.... They are all tight. I'm hoping it is just one of the drag link or steering bar connections. Also I need to take a good look at that stupid Terra Firma u bolt setup for the steering stabilizer. Maybe it is popping in and out of the grooves. I'll report back.

Not the retaining bolts. The actual shocks themselves. Easy to hear, find a speed bump and target that corner slowly. If everything else checks out, I would say it's the shock.

But I have been wrong before.

I should have added I get the knock at a complete standstill too, when I turn the wheel a little. She Who Must Be Obeyed has agreed to help me this evening so I'm sure I'll find some expensive, defective, problem part soon...
