Knocking noise?
I have a 99' Disco 1 and once it warms up there is a knocking from the front tire. It happens at low speeds and is defenatly tied to the speed the faster I go the faster the knocking and slower the slower. It is also tied to the brake, when I touch the brake it stops.
My first thought was it is the brake pad inside the caliper. I thought the pad may be ketching on the disk and riding it untill it hits the caliper and then falling back down. So I replaced the springs and pins which are to hold the pad in the caliper and this did NOT fix it.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

I'm not so certain about Land Rover front disks, but I've had a similar problem before with a warped rotor. Basically the pads would 'catch' on the rotor every rotation and make a knock. You can usually get a rotor turned at a good machine shop for pretty cheap, or just replace it with a new one. Rotors on most cars are under 50 dollars a wheel.
I would suggest you jack up the vehicle and check both the wheel bearings and )particularly) the swivel bearings. If either of these are worn the wheel will knock, but stop, or reduce when you apply the brake as this will cause the wheel to centralise. This what happened to an old 90 of mine.
Thanks for the help the problem was solved, It was as I suspected and was fixed with a second set of springs in the calipers. The first ones were off the shelf Napa and were not strongenough the second were LR certified. Thanks
