Hi

I have 1996 land rover Discovery and every time i start the car it makes a knocking sound for aprox 2 second . Is this normal?

No, it is not normal. How many miles on her, how often do you cahnge you oil, and have you ever done an engine flush?

178000, every 5000 Miles with Mobil super synthetic oil, and engine flush too. And also What brand name do you use to flush the engine.

What you need is a better oil filter, the one you have is
draining back ( the oil is coming out of the oil pump).
Every time you start the motor it has to reprime the pump.
