Default knocking sound over bumps

hello all,
ive recently returned to driving my rover (been gone for 6 months) and ive notices a knock when backing down my driveway. at first I thought it was the spare tire so I tightened the lugs and they were good. then while replacing my front brakes I got under the truck and greased up the prop shafts. im currently running 235/85s with no lift so maybe its the tire hitting the wheel well? any other suspension spots I should check?

Are there any marks in the wheel well from the tire rubbing?

Check your rear sway bar links and watts linkage

I'm having the same issue (I believe). I hear a knocking coming from the rear of the vehicle, a clunk when a bump is hit sideways. I assumed it was my 3 yr old HD TF lift (+2").

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread at all.

Thanks
Taylor

Knocking over bumps could either be worn out shocks or it could be your watts linkage. The Watts linkage is more of a side to side bump and shocks would be up and down. Swaybar links could be the culprit. you'd be able to see them broken easily. To check the shocks and Watts linkage you'll need someone to rock the truck up and down while you check the top and bottom mounts on the shocks. for Watts you'll need to climb under the rear bumper and visually check all the watts linkage joints while someone attempts to rock the tuck side to side.

Check your upper and lower shock mounts.

I did indeed find some play in the Watts while up on the lift, and ordered a new unit. I probably will do a swaybar disconnect in the rear and purchase QDs for the front as I'll need them for on-road. Do yall think it's safe to tow a Uhaul with rear sways disconnected, provided that the Uhaul is the 5"x7" variant and not the larger ones? Its not very often I tow, but occasionally I see a need to tow.

I appreciate the help!

I too found play in the linkage, I'm thinking about just replacing the bushings. Easy job?

if you are talking about the Watts linkage, then it's easier just to buy the entire thing and replace it. if i recall, they aren't that expensive. check with Lucky8.
