It'll probably be another disappointment to all of us Land Rover enthusiast. Maybe I've read into it all wrong, but kinda like how they basically said the defender will be citified when it's finally sold here.
yeah, IMHO, LR has not been doing such a great job with good looking trucks for a while now, excepting some of the RR models, but definetely not that silly Evoque. anyway, I'm prepared to be underwhelmed with a new line of Discovery's, but there's always hope. who knows...
Very dramatic add. I do agree that some of the stuff they have been showing is less than desirable for real rover aficionados. The freelander/LR2 make me think they are pricey ford escapes. I like the CURRENT RRS and LR4. BUT THE silhouette in the add looks promising.. here is to hoping it's a "real" suv.. and not another CRV. (RAISES CUP OF COFFEE AS IF TO MAKE MAKE TOAST)
The two LT's that leave me cold and underwhelmed are the Evoque and the Freelander. IMHO, both terrible errors of judgement. Better to continue with the Defender as is than introduce yet another failure model.
Not a chance, the Freelander 2(LR2 here) and Evoque have done nothing but keep Land Rover alive. They have excellent reputations for reliability, and the Evoque is a blast to drive.
Would I ever own one? No. To each their own, I want a Defender.
I'd like an LR2 for the girlfriend. She loves driving the disco.. she just had a very heavy foot for someone weighing in at a whopping 110lbs. I just think they are FUVS. (fake utility vehicles). Something wrong with a transverse mounted engine in an "suv". Don't get me wrong... I think the LR2 is leaps and bounds better than the old freelander. I just think they are better suited for mall crawling.
"Error in judgment" or "Ugliest vehicle ever"...sales don't lie. Apparently we're in the minority. The evoque is selling like Jim-Bo's Magic Elixer, and can't stay on the showroom floor. Whether you like it or not, it was a smart move for LR, and if producing some lack-luster off-road wanna-be's grosses them more dough to keep developing true off-road models, I'm all for the split market.
