Has anyone on here successfully installed one of these in a D2?

It is a navigation as well along with current media support but not sure if it has BT. I would pay that easily for OEM fit and finish which matches the interior instead of a pop-up screen or some crazy illuminated radio off a Best Buy rack. OEM+ for me.

I was joking around, but this actually appears to be a near-identical unit to the Porsche radio units that were released earlier this year for air-cooled 911s. Same idea - way overpriced, maintains factory-ish look, and adds modern functionality. Personally, I think the best option is just installing a Grom module to take the place of the OEM CD changer - it adds bluetooth audio and phone call capability, maintains the stock radio appearance, and is more reasonably priced at about $140. If I need to use nav, then I'm probably using Waze directly on my smartphone - the biggest benefit of any navigation system is realtime traffic, anyway.

These must be based on the same unit, though:

Indeed. It is probably the same manufacturer. The navigation that was installed from the factory in mine is the same one that was used in many other vehicles including Ferrari 360. It is a TrafficPro rebranded for various Marques.
