Land Rover are going to start to supply parts again for the older Land Rovers. To start with this will include only the Range Rover Classic and the Series One Discovery. These will be sold under the new brand Classic Land Rover Parts. The official annoucement will be in October at the British Classic Car Show at the NEC.

I think it is important for LandRover to continue to supply parts for a vehicle which has been hailed "the best 4x4xfar". No good having a go anywhere reputation vehicle if your gearbox dies in the middle of Africa and there's no replacements.

Good news.

Sorry, in the UK the parts are available, and now not just through Selected Land Rover Dealerships, but also other nomitanted suppliers, and also some clubs are going to be given direct access, namely the Range Rover register is in discussion at the moment I understand.

They have also dropped the cost of the parts to a more reasonable level since the introduction of the scheme, and to show off the scheme, in Septemeber at the Land Rover Fest show at Peterborough Showground, Land Rover had a Classic 3 Door Rangie given a make over with new parts from the Classic Range. This Rangie will be available to drive at the Land Rover Factory Land Rover Experience course.

Unfortunately this program has failed miserably here in the US. Local Dealers were offered the opportunity to participate in this program. It was rejected by over 72% of US dealers. (Don't ask how I got the number, but I assure you it is accurate!)

Most Land Rover centers have determined that Rovers "Offer" was just was too expensive to participate in. There is a "Qualifying" order in the six figure area, and most folks just don't want to play!!!

Go figure....... So much for factory support. We sell a tremendous amount of used parts for Classics and Series one Discos for this very reason. We have 2 "Land Rover Centers" here in town, and neither of them chose to play. Don't feel too bad, Jag did the same thing. No support for anything 10 years old.
