Default land rover oddities

so i have a leak in my steering fluid (sidenote: is it normal on disco 2's) but anyways i have to refill it every so often and we buy the fluid from a pontiac dealership just across the street from the nearest land rover dealership, is this going to be the case with other various items for my car? does anyone find that odd/ had the same experience?

Buy some power steering stop leak and top off with that, just do not use more than half the bottle.
I did a PS flush on my '97 and then when I needed to top off I used the stop leak and after about a 1/4 bottle it stopped leaking.
Check your owners manual and make sure that it takes just plain old straight PS fluid and go and buy it at the auto parts store.
My D1 takes ATF but I believe that D2's take regular power steering fluid.

You don't need to buy dealer fluids, bottom line the best thing you could do is go to any auto parts store and buy synthetic for all your fluid needs.
Sometimes, Lucas power steering additive will help on the slower leaks, but it sounds like you are ready for hose replacement.

What were the fluids you couldn't find?
I have never had a problem finding good fluids at Auto Zone or Checkers.

We try to be helpful.
I know what you mean about some other forums, I visit this otherone once in awhile and all they do is belittle and curse at you if you dont agree with them, if I wanted that I would just talk to my ex wife.
Damn gearheads anyway.
