Default land rover part?

does the original stepper motor have land rover written on it, if not how can I tell if its a factory part or an aftermarket one that won't work?

Why does it matter, has yours failed, for it age, it should be getting tired.
What sort of a problem are you having and what have you done so far to try and fix it?

well I got a used one from someone parting out a disco cause I have a generic one lr says they can't "read". I put it in and It idles better but still throws the code. I don't know if the used one I have is "genuine" so I don't want to go back up to the dealership and have them tell me the same thing as last time. Is there any other issues that are known to cause the stepper motor code? My haynes manual says that a bad speed sensor can cause bad idleing, I think that may be going bad as I found out a couple weeks ago my speedo is off and I have had 2 instances where my truck stumbled like it was running out of gas.

yea thats about the same as mine.
the reason I wanted to see was because the one I had the dealer couldn't read, I got it from advance auto it was supposed to be interchangeable according to the forum. I can't find anything wrong with the truck (that I think would be related) I runs ok in gear, a little high idle maybe. In neutral it pulses like it revs too low and over compensates revs back up. My understanding is when you replace the stepper sometimes you have to calibrate the computer and to do that I have to have a working stepper that the computer can read.

cant help you with your problem but my speedo is off, I drive around 54ish (on the speedo) if I want to do 50, and I get the same reading on my GPS as I do the speed alert signs on the side of the road, so I am pretty sure thats accurate.
