Wow. I'm knocking myself in the head for turning down a trip there last weekend! Never been.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought Last Dollar Road was a metaphor for owning a Rover.

Literally by the end of the drive the winds were picking up and the eaves were starting to drop. It is kind of hit or miss on which weekend will be peak colors. usually the last weekend on September or the first weekend in october. As far as I can tell.

We usually do that drive this time of the year. Do the basins during the flower season.

Did you do Imogene pass as well? That's probably my favorite

Yes we do that earlier in the season every year. It is a great trail. I go from Ouray to Telluride then eat at the Brown Dog Pizza place. Yum! Detroit style. Not sure what is my favorite trail is. I can say that I love Silver Basin. Also American Basin. Silver basin is right at the start of Imogene you just turn the other direction. American basin is off of the Alpine loop heading toward Lake City. What I like about Silver Basin is that not as many people go on it. Great wildflower show around 8/1.

Nice! Love the Brown Dog pizza place, when I went on my western LRR trip we finally got to Telluride around 8ish, that was our first stop. Telluride is an unreal place, truly my favorite town in this country.
