Default Leaking cool water...

2000 Disco has a substantial leak at the front of the engine, under the radiator....The expansion tank empties, and the car heats up...but the
leaking water is cool...
I will refill the tank, with water, and it will run fine for a day around town, then just suddenly dumps....COOL water.....
Any ideas what is wrong?
Thanks in advance

You don't need to keepstarting new threads on this, just answer the questions that spike asked you in your first one.

Start the engine and watch it closely, if it's coming out that fast you really should be able to see where it's coming from. Possible it's a crack in the radiator or a return hose from the radiator or a hose connection at the bottom of the radiator. You might have a stuck thermostat too.

Sorry jkid....couldn't get logged back in to reply....
So started a new thread...

Anyway...Still curious...How can the water dripping out be so cool when the rest of the water in the system is so hot....??
Can't touch anything on the engine for heat...but the water pouring out of the bottom is cool....
Is this water not getting to the engine at all and hence not heating up?
Thanks in advance

Hot water goes in the top of the radiator from the engine, gets cooled and returns to the engine from the bottom of the radiator. It leaves the radiator through a hose, goes through the thermostat (closed when cold, opens when hot) and back to the radiator. Just a thought, I would guess you have a leak ina radiator seam orlower hose connection that opens up when enough pressure builds up. If the thermostat does not open up the water will remain cold in the bottom hose and the pressure could get pretty high causing a leak. Once the enginereaches operating temp, feel the lower hose to see if it's cold. If yes, replace the thermostat. You stillneed to find where the leak is though. If you can't visualize it, get the cooling system pressure tested because eventually it will get real bad and you will toastyour engine.

Thanks Jkid....I just replaced the thermostat last week hoping that was the overheat problem....but obviously not...
Cant see the leak anywhere...very tight there as you know...
Just a flushing from under the front of the radiator somewhere.
Haven't been able to identify the lower hose yet....to check temp.
I am assuming the radiator seam is on the side of the radiator but again cant get a good look at it.
Is there an easy way to feel the lower hose without taking all the panels off ...?
Thanks again.

Take your time looking for a radiator, there are some good after market prices out there.
