Default Leaking some oil!!!

Hey, anyone wanna help me? I have both valve cover gaskets leaking on me. I was looking into replacing the spark plug wires and plugs and i noticed there was oil leaking. A pretty good amount too. The undercarage and exhaust had some on it. Anyone know how hard it is to do. I'm somewhat inclined to do it myself, Is it worth it? Or should i bring it to my private Rover machanic? If i can do it myself anyone wanna give me hints or a procedure to do it. Thanks everyone.

You might receive more replies if you listed the year and model of your vehicle.

Kfordric,

Valve cover and head gasket leakage seems to be almost expected in a Rover. Everyone I've ever known who has a Rover says there is oil leakage to some degree on their car. If you are losing compression or power or fuel economy is really bad, you might want to consider doing it, otherwise don't bother. The rover dealer wanted $1200 to do mine. You'll have to decide for yourself. Companies like www.Atlanticbritish.com can sell you the parts to do it yourself (or have a trusted mechanic do it for cheaper).

Hope this helps.

Not much at all. Just a little wetness below the valve covers. I actually just sold my rolver yesterday, and the new owner and I looked at the engine together. He already owns one and knows this is to be expected, so he was okay with it too.

so guys this is normal? i to have the same issue with minor oil leaking from the valve cover gaskets. i dont think its affecting much of the gas mileage or losing oil at all. i always check my oil level everytime i fill up and it always look good.

so i should just leave it be right?
