Default Leather Door Panel Insert Replacement

Has anyone attempted to replace the leather or faux letter panels located on the plastic Door Panel? Mine for whatever reason have became very unattractive over the years. I haven't pulled the panels off to look and see if this is a doable option.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

It's not leather but cloth that looks like suede. The cloth is embedded in the door panels, there is no way to remove it.

If it is not cut or falling off you can use suede cleaner. I used some and the Alcantara came out looking great. Alcantara is the synthetic suede used on the door panels for those of you that don't know.

Maybe you could cut it out with a razor?

You'd need some skills to properly replace it.

I have seen two land rovers that had the synthetic suede replaced and it didn't look good. Maybe they weren't done professionally or the owner was sloppy. I would try to save it if possible.

I was actually thinking about doing a write-up on this, until it didnt work out the way I planned. The suede does come off. It has a light foam padding that joins it with the surface underneath.

I was going to replace the suede with some decent looking black pleather, but found it difficult to get the new material molded to the correct contour. Luckily it was not my original door interior, rather one I purchased off ebay for a few bucks.

It is doable, if unlike me, you know what your are doing in the fabric department. Might be easier too, if you went with a lighter material than I did.

To get the old stuff off, simply use something to pry a corner of the fabric up gently, then use pliars to pull it firmly off. You'll end up with some of the foam stuck to the panel, which is a pain to remove. The surface underneath the suede and foam is not like the rest of the panel, it is coarse and porous.
