Default leaves getting into my blower squirrel cage,...where are they coming in?

2003 Disco 2--I had the usual symptoms of debris in my HVAC blower squirrel cage,....noisy fan, vibrating dash, and very little air flow on high speed. I pulled the squirrel cage down tonight and sure enough, it was full of leaves. I shook them out and re-installed everything,....and much improved air flow, and now a quiet fan with no dash vibrations. Now wondering where the fresh air intake is and how to prevent leaves from getting in.

Look on the windshield cowl with the hood raised. There's supposed to be a foam strip running the length of the cowl. It's probably gone.

I looked at that earlier,....I didn't see where there was any provision for a foam filter strip,...just a single vertical plastic grid

Should be 4-6 metal clips on that vertical plastic grid. They hold in the foam strip

It's sometimes referred to as a cabin filter. Search here, on web and AB site for more info and a video. Many will make their own filter.
