Let's talk about shocks!
1996 Disco w/ 125k miles.
My shocks are shot. I need to change them. Any suggestions on brands and how difficult are they to replace? I've replaced them on my GMC truck but we all know Rovers are their own beast. Looking forward to your replies.

I would recommend the Old Man Emu shocks. The rear ones are a joke to install, as they are by the coils. The front ones can be a bit tricky for the fact that they are in the coils. I had heck of a time when I did my suspension, cause I thought I had to compress the shocks in the compressed coils (I used a coil compressor) which I did and installed them that way. When I complained at how hard I found the front shocks were to install, my local service manager thought I was pretty funny. Apparently, you can simply remove the shock tower, slide the shock in the coilfrom under the hood, and reinstall the tower. Still a bit tricky cause you have to move a few things that are in the way under the hood, like the a.b.s box on one side and I think the jack on the other side.
Kyle,
Don't replace your shocks untill you can do your springs also cause with your mileage, they are past shot.
OME's are a great way to go anf if you want to talk cost or installation send me your tele number and a good time for me to call you.

Kyle, what Darover's service manager told him about the front shocks is correct......they can be removed and replaced from under the hood. I recently replaced my front shocks because of a blown lower mountbushing......never jacked up the truck, never removed a wheel and only had to get under it to pick up dropped nuts or bolts.
In order to do it all from above, you'll need about a 24" ratchet extension so you can get to the lower shock mount bolts. A couple of well-positioned shop lights will make this task a lot easier.
