My ultragauge has broken. I want to replace it but I want some opinions before I drop the cash.

what is everyone using?

is there a better setup?

something that accesses more systems, reads more data?

I use a $15 Kitbest dongle from Amazon with $10 copy of OBD Fusion. I figure I spent double what I should have for the functionality I get out of it when compared to some of the other el cheapos out there. If you just want coolant temp and some throwaway features like mpg and hp, or maybe some quasi-technical bits like fuel rate or IAT then it's a decent cockpit add-on. Actually, seeing my O2 sensors dither does confirm they're functioning so that helps. The app supports a whole bunch of other features, oil pressure is of specific interest to me, but either the ECU isn't spitting them out or the Kitbest isn't capable of translating them. I'd like to know more about the middle road between the toy I have and a full blown Land Rover specific capable device like a Nanocom or Foxwell. $300-$400 seems like a like of money considering it's almost half what I spent on the truck, and I'm not anticipating buying any other OBDII cars anytime soon..

You don't say the purpose you want the replacement to serve. If it's to monitor the engine as you drive, I haven't seen anything on this forum that will do more than that plus read and clear engine codes. Nothing. I have heard about would also allow you to read and clear ABS, SRS and transmission codes, for example. Plus, did it available on anything will be dependent on what the ECU outputs. That's the limitation. That's why on our trucks nothing reads oill pressure.

If you aren't necessarily looking for something to display data while driving, juke has been singing the praises of the Foxwell NT520. It reads and clears ABS codes, at least.

Not sure I fully understand what you wrote mln however with regard to the lack of an oil pressure reading, according to the ETM this due to the fact that these trucks use an oil pressure switch that simply closes (and lights a lamp) as opposed to a sender which reports a variable reading.

Edit: Nice rig JUKE
