Default lift opinion

For my two cents... I drive an 04 with a 2" OME MD lift with 265/75/16 Goodyear wranglers and I love it. It looks good, drives good and is capable off road. I do not go off road as much as I should but it is all that I need. I just installed a 3" OME HD lift on my brother in laws DII and he is running 285/75/16 MT tires. He plans on putting on front and rear bumpers so we thought the HD was necessary. As for now without the load it is pretty stiff and you can actually hear the springs separating as you bounce over a bump without a load. So although it looks really nice and has a great stance it doesn't ride as nice as mine. It all depends on the mods that you are going to put on it for the preference of MD or HD springs. We also had to have the front bumper shaved to fit that size of tires for now. I bought both of the kits from Lucky 8 and they seem to have reasonable package prices for shocks and springs and are friendly to work with. You can see what my disco looks like on my profile but I do not have the pics of the 3". I will try to upload some so you can see the difference.

I looked on the Lucky 8 website and could not find any of the suspension package deals, could you send me a link.

I've got the same setup as 00&04 Disco : Medium Duty OME 2" (kit from Lucky8 comes with free shipping, so consider that as you shop). I also have Goodyear Duratracs 265/75. Ride is firm, but feels much more stable than the worn out stock setup. Here's a pic:

^^Ha!...in the "compact" spot...

I take great pleasure myself in parking in the "fuel efficient" designated spaces whenever I go to places that have them, like Best Buy...

DIITO It's all relative right?

1. It's "compact" compared to a school bus
2. It's "fuel efficient" compared to say an H2 on 35"s,
3. It's a "hybrid' because it's an SUV, a hybrid of a 'Sport' and a 'Utility' vehicle.

hahahahah. I think ylo has a very nice setup. I'm running procomp shocks and the rovertym 3" springs with retainers, stainless steel brake lines and corrected radius arms and adjustable pan hard rod and watts linkage.

oh, and the front drive shaft is now a little longer.

that plus sawing on some of the plastic (very minor) fits 275/70-18 without rubbing anywhere crossaxled even with 500+ lbs of crap in it. (which it had over that much weight in it in the photo below)

Yes. That's the 3" TerraFirma lift kit from Lucky 8.
