Lift Idea, is it possible?
I was reading a post about 2 weeks ago and the post was about doing a lift and keeping the air suspension. The idea was to lift in in the front the normal way (shocks, springs, etc.) and put blocks in the back. The reason for putting blocks in the back was to allow the off road lift button to still function/ (ex-Two inch lift in front, 2 inch blocks in back, when the off road lift button is pressed you will then have 4 inches in the back.) Now my question is, is that a crazy idea that will never work or is it possible? If it is possible, will there be advantages/disadvantages to doing this versus doing the classic lift?
Ok and to add on, (just in case the idea is impossible) how much would it cost to remove the air suspension and replace it with normal suspension? I am trying to weigh all my options here and decide what to do... I just put on new tires not to long ago I am just cant decide if I should get the lift or not.. Any input is great, I have been researching lifts quite some time and I still havent made up my mind about what to do. Thanks!

Not sure about a LR, but on a trk (semi) if you over extend the air ride you will blow your air bag.
I would think that the LR air bag is not designed to extendmuch farther than the extra 2in that the off road button gives you.

It was my post you read, and it does work. cannot post anymore info as its messing me about [:@]
EDIT trying again................ You won't be extending the bags at all. The spacers go under the bags, so when your offroad and you press the button , you get another 2" of lift (technically 4" in total), but the bag will only be extended the same as a standard vehicle
Heres a kit for front and rear, they may supply just a rear set of spacers and you could then fit longer springs of your choice on the front.

Imo, keeping the rear air is a much better idea overall, but each and everyonehas his own opinion on what best to do obviously. This is def the way I would go "if" I ever lift mine

I have a 3" lift in the front and have added RTE's 2" spacer with height adjusters to the rear. Been running them for 5 plus years and wouldn't switch to coils at all.
Thanks guys thats all good info, does anyone have some before and after pics of doing it with this method? Mike, did you use RTE stuff all around for your lift or did you use some other products?
I'd tend to say.....no sls problem yet and new tires, leave it ! WhenSLS problems arise ( and unfortunitely they will), instead of spending moneyon fixing it and stay at the mercy of this know to be problematic system, take this opportunity to lift your truck and switch to coils at the same time. You can order the suspension system with 4 coils and shock and steeringstabiliser from the company you prefer, and get therear spring seats and bolts at thedealership near you for some $40.00
Yeah Darover, I think thats what my plan is going to be, I figure it will look cheesy with the tires I have now and I am not about to change tires that only have 2000 miles on them. So I think I will hold off until the SLS breaks or the tires wear out, which ever comes first.

I used the RTE spacer in the rear and OME H.D. shocks, steering stabilizer and front coils.

I'm a soccer ref! Thats how I make almost all my money. When I was 13 I starting saving my money from that and Christmas/b-day and when I turned 16 I bought my disco, I payed for about 80% of it.
Being a soccer ref, I can make about $100 bucks a weekend, and there are 8-10 weeks in a season and there are 2 seasons per year. Since I am about to be a senior in High school I am putting half towards college and keeping half for myself... (read on to next post)
