Lifting My Disco
So last Friday May 4th I sent my 03 Disco II w/66k to have the motor replaced....I got tired of the ticking...
So while its in the shop I thought about lifting it and throwing some wheels and tires on it or maybe just tires on the factory wheels...
I found a 2" lift on ebay that looks like an aluminum spacer that goes either on top or below the factory coil springs....have any of you used these before?
My disco will NEVER go off road while I have it....so its more "the look" that Im after...can you guys make some suggestions?...lift, wheels, tires, and tire sizes?...
I absolutely want drivability so no cutting wheel wells and all that....I want a good looking road driven Disco...aggressive looking...
Thanks

Why the hell are you replacing a motor for a tick, what a waste of money. Do you even know for sure why it is ticking?
No, you never put spacers on on a warn out Rover suspension, you will just become way more top heavy and get a terrible ride off road.

The ticking was getting progressively worse, by Friday when I sent it for replacement it was hammering pretty hard. After thinking it over and over, thoughts of trading it in, debating over spending countless dollars on labor and being another "can't fix the tick" story on the board I opted for a new/used replacement engine...
I got a good deal on a 42k mile carfax verified 4.0 motor to go into the Disco. I also bought a 4.0 block to disassemble my 4.6 and build a fresh 4.6 out of...
I would rather spend the money fixing the entire problem then spend the same money for a mechanic at $100 an hour to chase down a hardcore ticking... and after countless dollars spent on labor....still have a serious tick.
1-low mileage used motor = problem solved
if your not ever going to go off road I would simply replace the current suspension for new. no need to lift the truck. besides no one likes a poser. get a good set of new tires, shocks, springs, front prop shaft, plugs wires.etc... there are plenty of different ways to spend money that would actually do your truck some good. Opposed to lifting which will be lost of what you plan on doing with your truck. hell even stock ride height it is more capable off road than almost any other off road truck currently available on the market.
but hey its your money. get a medium duty OME spring and shock set up.
