Default Lights on the roof, no roof rack

Has anyone mounted lights on the roof without a roof rack? I have some Hella 500's I want to mount, but don't have a rack. I'm wanting to go as low profile as possible.

It's a Disco II....and thanks in advance for your input.

I have seen some pretty cool light bars that clamp to the gutters but they have all been custom made. I would be interested in one as well. If I can find one I will post it.

my question for YOU is what Land Rover is complete without a roof rack?

haha jk. I would mount them on the bumper... if you don't have a rack you might as well maximize your aerodynamics up there. might seem crazy but, it makes a difference in MPG

Yeah, the custom made route might be the best way to go. I'll do the same if I find something.

This one is cool, just not sure if they ship to the US, or if it would work with my Hella's.

Hey, if you have a spare rack you're willing to donate, you can drop it by any time!

I've got LR lights on my grille guard, just don't want the perfectly good Hella's collecting dust anymore. And, I've given up on MPG's, I just depend on all the Prius's up here to offset my lack thereof.

Maybe Disco_Fever will chime in. He made a mount that looked just about factory original. He used X-Eng X-Lites.

That's almost exactly what I was picturing. Where'd you find that picture?

The picture was of the winch bumper that they sell, I couldn't find anything on the site for what you were looking for, but maybe i didn't look well enough...

A couple problems mounting to the roof, leakage, wiring and mostly having the lights that low to the roof will reflect a good portion of the light to the roof and then up into the air doing you no good.
For what it is worth, you can put a lot more light in front of your truck when using bumper mounted lights.
