I just bought an 03’ so my 00’ isn’t lonely. Looking at a third now. My friends and family think I’m a total idiot but I love em. It’s actualy really hard to explain when your asked, “Why don’t you just buy a tundra and be done?” Cuz it ain’t got a soul! They are addicting, rewarding, impressive and dissapointing all at the same time. Nothing else like it.

 

Owner of a 2000 Disco II and a 1964 Series IIA. Love em both. But they do try my patience. The Disco 2 is a daily driver. Even with all the quirks and hit a deer in the disco last week. Front bumper is gone, but I drive it. I have a 2014 Toyota FJ loaded, but I like the disco. Really Eyeballing LR3/4's But that will be another day. I live in a small Southeast town. This fall I was taking my daughter to soccer practice. Had the windows down in the disco, passed a mom and kids at a red light. As I passed, I heard the kids say, "oh look, its a Land Rover". I was praying that my disco didn't sputter, spit or stall as I passed.....but I did so with honor.

I once owned a 1967 Series 2A with a 2.25 gas engine, it was my project, a ground up nut and bolt rebuild including the engine, gearbox and transfer box, when it was finished it was great, it was slow (most people on a peddle cycle could pass it), it was noisy (no point having a radio or stereo, too much gear and engine noise) and it was cold (the heater in 2A's was total crap) but I loved this heap of metal and it went everywhere without complaining ............... but slowly, 60mph top speed. In the end I finally sold it after spending an awful lot of money on it, and I sold it for around the same price I'd paid for it in the outset ........... what a waste of time and money, but I learned an awful lot about Landrovers etc whilst playing with it. We all do mad things during our lives.

 

Yes, the 2A is slow, but I had the spliter where I could go 65 mph. It was a strain on the engine, but you could go 65 mph. My Series 2A in in the shed while I drive the Disco 2.

I've had my 2004 since 2006 and replaced the engine a year ago. It is my wife's daily driver and I think/worry more about it than my wife driving it.
