Default "limping" home

So I know if a U joint fails or you wreck a drive shaft off road or something you can remove it, lock the CDL and "limp home" for a short distance. Well I was looking for the source of my driveline vibrations and grinding, and although I'm not positive I found the source of all of it, I know for a fact my U joints are about to fail. Problem is I'm 60 miles from home. I have no money to tow it home so it's going to have to be driven, so would I be able to take out my front drive shaft and "limp" this long of a distance without damaging anything?

Which u-joints are about to fail, front or rear? Remove that drive shaft, put your t/case into high lock and drive on the other shaft.

should be ok... do not accelerate hard... be extra easy on it... 6000 pounds is a lot for the weak rear diff to hand on its own... make sure your t-case has oil in it...

The fronts, Mike. Rears are getting changed too because they're in bad shape but I'm pretty positive the front is in worse shape.

Well the good thing is that you have a DI and you have a CDL and a busted u-joint on a DI wont take out the tranny.
