In-line fuel filter?
Greetings -- Just wondering if anyone has previously modified their rig with an in-line fuel filter?
I'm going to be replacing the fuel injectors next week and it seems to me like it might be a good precaution against any residual dirt or rust in the gas tank clogging the injectors.

Well, kind of a long story, but the readers digest version is this: check engine light has been on and I had it in to the dealer to diagnose. They did a smoke test and found air leaking around injector seals and recommended having injectors ultrasonically cleaned at the same time. This makes sense to me although Im doing the work myself and sent out a spare set of injectors for cleaning.
You do not want to replace the injectors, D2 injectors rarely go bad and it is not uncommon to have a dealer say that just for the extra $$$$$$.
What fault codes do you have and how many miles on the engine?

Fault codes are lean-running (p0171, p0174) and also misfire (p0300). Mileage is 130k. I guess I could just replace the injector o-rings, but if that doesn't fix it, it just means taking it apart again.
Well, I guess the concern is clogged injectors. Local guy I talked to that does ultrasonic injector cleaning says he sees a lot of Rovers. Here's the dealer diagnosis if that helps shed any light on it...
There is already a fuel filter in the gas tank.
I have yet to hear of any Rover injectors going bad, but that does not mean it does not happen.
Mine are original, I've never done anything other than the occasional bottle of injector cleaner.
The DI does have a in-line fuel filter though.
But again I have yet to hear of any Rover injectors going bad.
