locating fuel filter

Disco II's do not have a fuel filter.

Every Disco 2 iv worked on has had a fuel filter, on the diesels, its behind the right hand rear wheel..
Not sure where the petrol filter is though...
I may be crazy, but I have not seen a vehicle that does not have a fuel filter. I would be very surprized if a rover did not have one. You might want to call a stealer if it is not under right hind wheel.
On the 99 D2's not D1's and up the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump in the tank. LR says its a lifetime filter. Yea so is swivel grease. Does this clear it up for everyone?
Ahh- that makes sense. Knew there was something there. No such thing as life time anything and I would guess they figure on the pump going out at some point and the whole mess being replaced
I will take the one on wheel well especially if you run anywhere the fuel may be suspect. Proof once again that newer does not mean better in all cases.

The probplem with adding a inline one is that it would be past the one in the tank and the one in the tank would get all the crud before it hits the inline one that you would add. I am not sure how hard it is to access the fuel pump in the tank, so not sure how much of an issue it is. I realise that we are only suposed to run high quality fuel according to rover, but who knows when you get a crappy tank - hell, they would not have filters in if the potential was not there for debree. seems like a half assed design putting it in the tank.
