Lockers for Disco 1?
Got my rover pretty stuck the other day. Made a post about it but apparently I have no rover friends that wanted to comment on it.....waaaaaa. I wanted to know if you can put locking hubs on a Disco 1 and where are the parts at if so?
i was definitely locked in with the cdl, what happened was i was in a gully where the dirt is real soft due to a thin creek down there, and the driver front tire went in and it went up to the fender. as with any 4x4 without lockers, the wheel with less traction spun while the one i needed sat there and marinated in the dirt. front and back where spinning.
tires are not at all aggressive. some michelin 4x4 tires that came with it with moderate tread

To answer your question, no, you can not add hubs. Sounds like you either need to replace your tires or step up to either a rear locker or front and rears lockers. You currently only have open diffs that is why you were not able to pull your self out.
For options, get back to us.

I'd get a winch first, for a couple of reasons.
You'll gain more off-roading skills driving with open diffs for a while.
A winch will get you out when those skills fail you.
A winch will get you out of places even lockers won't.

High centering is like if you go over a small but steep hill that gets you caught up on your undercarriage to the point where tires are off the ground and you can't move. But I do agree with Antichrist. Find a couple buddies who will go wheeling a few times so you can get used to the open diffs. Get a winch in the meantime if you want to add something on, then in a few months grab your lockers like I'll be doing
I agree 10000%, get a winch, it is cheaper than lockers and locker are not needed if you know what you are doing, the Camel Trophy trucks didnt have lockers, they just had a winch, under armor and a roll cage.
Getting stuck happens to the best of us, but a winch is 100% better than lockers.
You can lock your diff but if you still cant get traction you are still going to be stuck.
With a winch your tires can be bald and you will still get unstuck.

One tool that we have all forgotten to mention is a Hi-Lift jack with the rim hooks.
You can use the Hi-Lift with your recovery strap wrapped around a tree to yank yourself out, you can use your jack to lift the truck high enough to fill in the hole/remove the log/whatever.
You can buy a Hi-Lift at Tractor Supply Company for under $100.
