Default is Locking Diff an accessory?

Hi,

I have a 2003 Disco. I seem to have the transfer case sticker for a locking diff, but the shifter is self is not one...is this something I have to purchase separately?

Thanks once again,
Steve

Yes.
It was standard on Disco's all over the world except the US.
Your probably has the wrong sticker.
You will need to buy a transfer case with a CDL (center locking differential)

But because you have a '03 you can only buy a '04 t-case as earlier model's will not fit.
If you had a '02 you could buy a t-case from a '98 for example.

There is a kit you can buy to add the CDL to your t-case but you have to remove the t-case to add it and the kit is expensive so it might be more cost effective to just buy a used '04 t-case and then sell yours.

Sort of... but not really. It is not quite as good as having the CDL.
You will notice a world of difference on hill climbs if you ever make the conversion, I know I did.

I think you are getting the CDL and the front and rear diffs confused.
A locker goes into a front or rear diff to lock both wheels together.
A CDL locks both front and rear driveshafts together but still allows each wheel to spin at its own pace.

Well you can imagine my confusion!

I thought he was trying to keep someone from stealing his differential
