Angry Long Brake Pedal Travel

just got a 1999 disco 2 i have the 3 amigos (sanner in the post codes to follow) can this be a factor in Long Brake Pedal Travel?

Nike likely, most likely your brake fluid needs to be replaced and bled and/or your brake hoses are soft and need to be replaced. Also check for leaks at the wheel cylinders.

Also while fixing your 3 Amigos, do a full 3 pint, DOT 4, brake flush. As for the brake pedal travel, worn pads will cause some extra travel also. If your's are worn, consider switching over to a full set of Akebono ceramic pads.

Pads and disks are fine 70% left on them.

Because as your pads wear, fluid from the master cylinder takes up some of the wear by putting more fluid to the calipers and some of the wear does show up in a slightly lower brake pedal with less pedal distance.

My first thought was that you may have lost half of your master cylinder. How does it stop? You might try putting the vehicle up in the air and have the brakes applied by an assistant while you turn the wheels and see if you are getting pressure to each wheel.

Stops just fine just have to pull my foot down a bit more before it starts to bite.

Start by bleeding your brakes. It is a good idea to flush your brake fluid as well.

Of course. This is why calipers need to be pushed back in when changing pads. If that did NOT happen, the pedal travel would change.

This is what I'm asking you to explain, because not only doesn't it make sense to me, I've never seen it in a properly working system, and it conflicts with/isn't explained by the first part of your statement.
