Default Lookin for a Disco

Hey guys, I'm new here - I've been looking for a disco for quite awhile now, my question is of all the years produced, which one's are the best? After Ford bought out LR or before? Pro's and Con's? I appreciate any help - I've had over 63 veh.'s in the past years and this one stumps me......I've heard so many different things - Thanks - Devin

Hey thanks for the response! Just a daily driver - I own a floor covering business and do quite a bit of measuring, that's about it and the occasional trip to the cities.

I've found an 04 SE at a LR dealer w/53k on it for 11,900.00 and certified up to 100k. Compareing with most the price isn't bad, but is the 04 good?

Thanks, I appreciate your help! There were two 04 SE's, the other was 14,800 w/40k on it - think the price difference is the mileage? There both loaded with same options.
I'm not sure where your from, but LR's are as high here in the midwest then out east or on the west coast. Thanks again!

That first one is definitely a good buy assuming it's in good shape. More than anything with these trucks you just need to buy something that's been taken care of. Even if you get a '96 or '95 with 150k on the clock, if it's had all it's maintenances done on time and properly it will last to 300k or more. Remember that if you buy a Discovery II (mid 99-04) you'll need to have the front driveshaft rebuilt (about 300 bucks) or it will take out your $7000 transmission when it fails. Also all Discos require premium gas. Good luck

yes, the u joints in the double cardon of the front driveshaft. They came from the factory with no grease fittings and eventually they wear out and fail, so you want to put in new u joints with grease fittings and have a new centering ball kit put in. Then you just grease them at every oil change. Any old driveshaft shop can do the job, if they try to charge more than $300 they're ripping you off.

Thanks, I'd read that somewhere in this forum -

These trucks I mentioned are off a corp. lease - makes me wonder if their any good. I've have other high end cars of leases before that were just piles of sh__! I appreciate you responding! I'll let you know what I decide - I've wanted one of these since I can't remember, but something always scares me off. Is there a good extented warranty out there, I think Rover wants 2900.00?
