Looking for
I went threw the exact same thing as you, I had a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero XLS, bought it brand spanking new, had 65 miles on the OD when I took delivery.
5 years and 100,000 absolutely trouble free miles later and with only 3 payments to go I had to do a voluntary repo on the truck so that I could get a good attorney.
I bought a $500 Camry, returned my beloved Montero and never looked back.
She pays me child support, she has to keep health insurance on the kids and pay 82% of the kids medical bills.
Sell your Disco, buy a $500 beater, get the divorce over and done with and then work on rebuilding your life.
The last thing you need right now is a car payment.
The Freelander will be more trouble some than your Disco, the earlier ones are more trouble prone than a DII.

make sure your beater is a honda civic that will save you some money on gas and repairs. those things last forever. the last one i had was an 88 accord i drove it straight to the junkyard. the panels were all rusting off it had 288k on it and still drove great. i just couldnt take being seen in it any longer!
Can't go wrong with an '89 Toyota Pickup. Just turned 310,000 and still running strong. Hopefully soon I will be saying the same thing about my first LR. I have to find one first. Not doing well thus far.
