All Disco's that have sunroofs have dual sunroofs.
The "cut outs" are already there in the "S" model, which is the bare bones version but it still has cruise.
So he could of had the sunroof put in, you can buy them at Rover parts suppliers.
Remember that when they build a car, every model has all the wiring for everything just they dont install everything.
Its much cheaper to have one or two wire harness' for every model than to have one wire harness for each individual model.

Have you test drove it yet?
If not when you do take it to the dealer and ask them what they would give you for it on trade.

 

Check ebay.Theres a place in Jersey (wayne nj I think) that has several nice 03's.If I remember right they were all real nice and close in price. place is called Lencore group 201-300-2840

 

To a large degree, reliability is what you make it. If you keep up with the maintenance (which many owners don't) you can expect problems. A lot of people buy Disco's for a 'bargain' becuase they had deferred maintenance ...and yeah, they can expect to have some issues if previous owners didn't replace things as they should have.

Long term, the engines and transmissions seem to hold up very well. That said, nearly all vehicles have some sort of inherent problems, the 3 Amigos is one for DII's. I think L/R's are easy to work on. BTW, if that Disco had vinyl seats, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Disco leather seats weren't all that durable and vinyl cleans easy. Some types of vinyl are very durable ...easily outlasting leather. You see a lot of land rovers with crappy leather seat bottoms ...but the vinyl around them is always in good cond. I have a Toyota truck 1982 and the vinyl seats are still in great shape. Have lasted through -20 degree winters and still haven't cracked. I have 3 vehicles from the mid to late 90's with leather seats that aren't even close to the shape of the Toyota vinyl seats. So, vinyl isn't necessarily a bad thing in the long run. my S has dual sunroofs. the original owner ordered it that way. i also have cruise and a in-dash factory CD player.

i didn't know the vinyl was vinyl until I investigated the heated seat kit (which is only for leather).

pretty sure all Discos have hill descent (one of the previous posters suggested it was a feature).

i paid $8800 at 50k miles (the right passenger door lock broke during the test drive)

 

Price seems to be extremely high. I recently bought an 03 SE with a 4 bike Thule rack, 64,000 on the body, 14,000 on a new short block for $8000. Also has aftermarket ipod ready cd player and a small amp professionally installed to give the sound some extra oomph. Deals are a plenty if you are willing to wait it out for one.

 

I talked with the guy, and he said that he would go as low as $12K. I told him that I was going to pass, he asked what I was willing to offer. I told him $9500-10K tops, because it needs tires, and brakes. He said that he would do that. So I am going to take another look at it on Thursday, just to be sure.
KBB said it was $8600 - $9700. Edmunds said $11,500. So 10K is in the middle of the road.



So whats the deal with tires? I called around asking about tires, and most places said that I need H rated tires. So what are some decent AT tires, and do I really need H rated tires? I don't plan on taking the truck up to 130 mph. A couple of places said that it also affects the handling of the truck.

 

You do not need H rated tires.
I prefer the Cooper Discoverer S/T, others like the General Grabber A/T2.
Both are good A/T's.
What you need to find out though is if it has the 18" or 16" rims, the 18's will set you back almost a grand for four tires and will limit your a/t choices ALOT.
If it has the 18"s you can sell those rims and buy a set of 16"s, with the tire on the rim the 18's and 16's are the same overall diameter.
