Default looking for new CD/MP3 player

I'm looking for a new CD/MP3 player for my 1997 Discovery 1.
I would prefer Alpine or Blaupunkt, but need to be sure what player would be recommended for easy plugin and installation by myself. I just need to replace the player; speakers are fine.
Something with a built in amp and no IPod connection crap, but I need it to play MP3 CDs.

Anyone have any recommendations and suggestions for a new player.

Thanks.

I have an Alpine that's a few weeks old. Only paid $200 or so.Most Alpines willwork with aniPodinterface whether you want one or not. Good selling point if you ever get rid of the vehicle.

If you want to do it yourself, buy the deck from Crutchfield. http://www.crutchfield.com. They include great DIY instructions and all of the harness/mounting stuff you need for a Discovery.

IMHO, iPod "crap" is here to stay and the likelihood of CD's fading into the sunset ala the cassette appears to be inevitable.
