Looking for a rebuilt driveshaft
Although the tutorials are really helpful, I am not sure I have the time to rebuild my front driveshaft. I have confirmed that it is non-serviceable. I would like to do it myself, but I have four small kids and lots of house projects to get done, so I want to see how much it would cost to buy a fully serviceable drive shaft that I can install. The sticky says it is about a 6-8 hour project, but I have never had to use a puller or a slide hammer before, so I would add some time to figure that crap out. I have done repairs on my trucks before, but there is always a bit of a learning curve.
The sticky says that the rebuild parts are like $70-88. If a rebuilt one is only, say, $250 or something close to that, then I would rather buy it done if that works just as well. What are the pros and cons of this plan?
If I can get something that I could install in 20-45 minutes, then I can still go to my son's baseball game and build a chicken coop and stain the mantle, and.........
Thanks guys.

Driveshaft - Front - OE Spec (TVB000320A Same Fit As Part # TVB000320) - Land Rover driveshafts from Atlantic British
This one is fully greasable, but more expensive for it.

You can work on it over a few days if its easier or have a local rover shop take care of it for you (or a local rover enthusiast you trust to do it). Take it off, lock center diff and drive 2 wheel till its done.
If you want a non-china made drive shaft that will last, order one from Bill Davis at Great Basins Rovers in Salt lake City, he has been in the Rover driveline business for over 20 years.
X2 ^^
I have a buddy that blew his Tom Woods DS during a road trip down to Moab. Bill went to the shop on a Saturday (they were closed) and hooked him up with a DS so that he could continue his vacation.
I would have gone through GBR myself, but couldn't wait for the shipping due to the inconvenient time my u-joints began to fail. The Columbia Rovers shaft I got was a rebuilt serviceable shaft.
Just for anyone else looking at this thread, the pricing I have found is as follows:
Tom Wood is $389 (shipping included).
Columbia Rover charges $420 (not sure if they ship for free) only if you ship them your drive shaft core. Without that, it is another $200.
Great Basin Rovers is $374.95 plus actual shipping price to your destination.
Atlantic British charges $599.95 plus shipping.
All in, it looks like I am going to end up paying about $300 to avoid having to rebuild it myself, since the parts are $80 anyway. This is starting to look less appealing. If there was an option for about $200-250, I might buy. Thanks guys, I will let you know what I decide.

FWIW I think it could be done in 4 hours or less using a ball-joint press and slide hammer. I just tackled it myself last week, and while I ran into problems, it wasn't difficult. Most of the issues were my own fault. Also, I called local driveline shops when I was contemplating it and prices seemed to be $200-250 parts included. If you could afford to be without your Rover for a day this could be the way to go. That price of course was for me bringing in just the shaft, already removed from the vehicle.
