Unless it's more than a foot and a half deep of snow it's better to cut through the fluff with skinnier tires. Less resistance forward against the snow as well. Sand however is a different story, get some balloons under there!

Yes, but with 265's and up, if you are really wheeling, your gears and diffs will need to be changed or else you will have very little low end, terrible gas mileage and spider gears that will chatter.

True that. You could run 315 75s all day long, the minute you're spinning one and it locks traction on a rock, your shaft is gone, or your spiders are gone.

Well, part it looks good and part thought it would be better for mudding, etc. I have 255/65 on right now and they look like donut wheels with my 2" lift...

I run 255/85s, they don't look like donuts! But they're just as wide as yours, and can cut down to the grippy stuff under the loose mud.

The 85 makes a huge difference and the tread looks aggressive to.

I have to admit, a lot of it for me is the looks. That's much of the reason I was attracted to the Disco in the first place.

As far as mudding goes, I believe it's recommended to run tall narrow in mud, or icy, lightly snowed roads. Big, wide, beefy, and soft, are good for big rocks and 'Deep' snow.

And if you are hot ******* it in the mud, you will blow those diffs with time.
