see if that hose (tube with no wires inside) perhaps ran from coolant reserve container (has the coolant cap) (7 on pix) and the throttle body heater. You would have a constant spray. Unless the throtle body heater is bypassed.

If it is a "new" coolant reserve container overflow (20 on pix), it only vents when pressure above 18 PSI with a good cap.

Perhaps a vac line, maybe with the SAI system?

Also, what makes you believe you have a coolant leak? Is your temp gauge ever above 9:00?

It has overheated before and just recently again along with the white smoke that comes out when it heats up I'm sure its leaking because I cleaned a lot of oil and coolant off the bottom of the truck. I was told the valve cover gasket is leaking as well so I know theres at least those two things wrong at the moment

If it's still connected to the coolant reservoir then no. It is supposed to be like that. It just gives overflowing coolant a place to drain other than all over the reservoir.

Thanks well I guess now I just have to figure out where the coolant is leaking from. I was worried it had something to do with that but I'm glad it doesn't

If not easily noticeable, try borrowing/renting a coolant pressure tester from a chain auto store to help identify where the leak is coming from.

How did you determine you were overheating? By the gauge on the dash? If that's the case. That gauge is useless. It only has three positions. Position 1. (Down) Cold. Position 2. (Middle) Normal. Position 3. (Up) Hot and now your head gaskets are probably.

You may still have air in the system from when your buddy's mechanic changed the t-stat. Do you hear a "waterfall" or rushing water type noise under the glove box inside the cab?

Yea I think I can hear what sounds like water under the glove box if im really close to it. But I had the thermostat and the sensor for the temperature changed almost 2 months ago. The coolant is the main thing draining right now it looks like I need to put some more in already. And I know I was overheating because the gauge did go up and when I popped the hood white smoke came out and the engine and hoses were burning hot.
