Default loose battery terminal

anybody know a easy way to tighten them once they are all the way tight and still loose on the battery post? I do not like the rover design for terminals but it looks like you have to replace the whole cable to replace with a good terminal.

On the trail I've gotten by with a screw between the post and the terminal.
There are good terminals out there that you can attach to the existing cable. That is what I did and have not had any problems. No purpose on keeping a "good" terminal with a bad contact.

Most auto parts have a big selection, replacement is easy but if the terminals are bad, might as well replace the cables, just as easy IMO.

ylo is right. I got mine at Advance Autoparts and they had a big variety. I went for the most expensive... no big deal.

leadfoot, did you replace the terminals or cables and terminals? The cables look like a dealer only item to me.

I only replaced the terminals. I cut the terminal, washed the end of the cable with a solution of baking soda and water and attached the new terminal.

leadfoot, do you have a d1 or dII? my cables are just long enough to make it to the battery. I think if i replaced my terminals, especially the neg side, the cable would then be too short.

You can buy the cable with the terminals already, or buy the cable and the terminals and fabricate your own.
see example from auto parts warehouse. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...ND(universal:1)

By the way, mine is a DI and I had no cable to spare, so I actually cut open the terminal to keep the whole cable. You are right, it is short.

I was thinking about replacing mine after finding them so short on the D2. There are some places that will custom make them. My problem was with the neg cable. It is bolted to the frame not allowing much slack. Does anybody know what happens if you disconnect that ground?
