Are you sure that part was not missing from your rocker arm all along? That would explain a lot of tapping.

I have old rocker arms in my garage, I even have some new ones as well. You can have a new one for $5 plus mail, or an old one for free plus mail.

Are you basing your prognosis on the fact that I had a ticking sound or did you decide anyone stupid enough to post in the wrong section is stupid enough to neglect his engine?
I'm thinking I'll get a few more miles outta this old gal yet.
