Default LR Disco 2 Indicators

Greetings.

Vehicle is a 2001 LR Discovery 2 4.0 V8.

The issue: All of the indicator lights flash, but they do not illuminate to full brightness. One can barely notice that the indicator bulb is flashing even if you get really close. The indicator light on the instrument panel flashes as it should. The relays make quite a loud click on and off when the indicator is on.

The relays were changed but that did not solve the problem. When power was also connected directly to the bulbs and they illuminated to full brightness.

What could cause this ? Grounding issue ? Wire short ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do the indicator bulbs flash faster than usual like a hyperflash/strobe light effect?

Does your Disco start up at all? Battery connections loose or corroded? Possibly low battery voltage? Incorrect indicator bulb inserted (double contacts at base of bulb instead of a single contact)?

Sorry I took so long to reply.

Anyway, I still have not been able to determine the cause. I will attach a video of the lights flashing which will hopefully aid in sourcing what part could be the issue.

The battery was recently changed and the positive terminal clamp changed in order to fix a low charging voltage issue. After that, the indicators worked fine for a few weeks. About a month later I started having this issue. The vehicle starts as it should. I will say that the red light next to the P on the gear stick is constantly flashing. I’m not sure if there may be an connection between the two but thought it worth mentioning.

It turned out to be the fusebox under the steering wheel that was bad. There was quite a lot of water intrusion in that area at the bottom of the A pillar and the fuse box began to corrode internally.

Fusebox replaced. Issue rectified.

It's almost always the fusebox under the dash when electrics start to do really odd stuff! I've replaced it on 2 Discos now. Congrats for fixing.
