Default LR off road lights not working

I have a 99 D2 with a "factory" brush gaurd and the Land Rover off road lights mounted in it. Problem is they suddenly do not work. The switch on the dash has an orange led lit all the time and the lights will not come on.

1. Bulbs work, checked them with jumper leads.
2. Fuses that I found are all ok.

When I unplug the left housing from the harness, the orange light goes out. But the right one will not work.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks, David

Swap the bulbs and see if the same light goes out when you unplug the one.

Did you check the single fuse mounted to the firewall side of the small black box bolted to the firewall (back) side of the underhood fuse and relay panel?

Tried this, did not change anything. Was a good idea though.

Yes, I did check this one. Somehow I discovered this one already. Fuse is good.

Looks like I need to get familiar with the wiring diagram in my Rave. The owner's manual shows none of this system.

Thanks guys!

You might check out the "Accessory Fitting Instructions" for STC50294. Even though your lights are probably mounted in a different location on the brush guard (in the middle) the wiring is the same. I'm not sure if a true wiring diagram is even going to exist in RAVE, but at least the instructions will show what all wiring modifications are made when installing the lights

I have the same issue and I have heard that sometimes it's a possible failure in the switch...Urban Panzer has a blip about it on his website somewhere....

You just need to start the process of elimination from one end first. Since you know the lights work if jumped at the lights then move back. I would grab a cheap switch or even just use a jumper at the switch to activate the lights. If you have a multimeter then it would be easier as well.

I have a 2001 d2 with factory off road lights that don't work. I haven't had a chance to diagnose yet. If it happens to be the unreliable factory relay, this is how I am going to fix it. http://www.discovery2.co.uk/spots.html
