Yes, you need the correct sized 6 point socket in a 1/2" drive, a hammer, channel locks and Liquid Wrench.
I can get you the socket size in a little bit.
Spray the lug with Liquid Wrench, hammer the socket onto the nut, remove the nut, spend ther next hour getting the nut out of the socket.
Next lug.
This will take you 3 hours to do all four wheels.
The actual lug nut is under the tin caps, you will need to find the sides of the nuts to get the socket to fit on there and when you hammer the socket into place it will "reform" the tin around the lug nut.

1 1/16" 6 point socket, it MUST be a 6 point socket, not 12, 6.

I will be changing tire withing the next few months (hopefully). So, if we tell the tire person not to use an impact wrench, how much will they believe us?

And what is the purpose for the covers?

Impacts can be used on those lug nuts, but i think it beats the s h * t outta the covers
i just did my brakes and used an impact, wasnt gonna take 8 hours getting my wheels off, no way

When I got my new tires mounted the guys at Discount Tire gave me hassle because I asked them not to use a impact putting the wheels back on, I actually had to treaten to take my business elsewhere.

The purpose of those covers is for looks.

They are supposed to torque the lugs anyway and not use a impact.

FYI:any time after brake work or tire work before you leave the parking lot make sure that your tire tool will go over each and every lug nut.
You do not want to be stranded on the side of the expressway in a blizzard with a tire that you cant get off.

I bought a tire tool kit off ebay and ya know, i never checked if it fit any of the lug nuts?
it says its 1 1/16 but if it doesnt fit any of the nuts i have a 1/2 drive ratchet spud for ironworking that i put a 27mm on and it works in a pinch, gets my spare off anyway

I have a 32" long, 3/4" drive torque wrench. I had no troubles removing my super tightened (by an over enthused tech at the tire place) lug nuts with a 1 1/16th inch 12 pointed (craftsman) socket. You can take any bolt off of a Disco with one of these 32" long wrenches or breaker bars even the axle nut. The 3/4 inch drive sockets are expensive but you never feel like they are going to snap on you.
