Default Machine cost to top hat flange a Disco II V8?

I just picked up a 04 Disco II SE with a slipped liner.

The car is already stripped down to the block, so I'm just going to yank out the block and take it directly to the machine shop.

I'm looking at getting some info on the ball park of what I need to ask for, and what costs I may be looking at to have the block inspected, top hat sleeves installed, and make sure the head deck is flat.

Costs you guys have seen in the past? Anything I should ALSO take care of while the block is in the machine shop?

Should I order the sleeves myself to cut costs? If so, where are some online retailers I can order these from?

This guy did it for about $1100 I think? He ordered the sleeves himself.

I honestly think this is my best route. Walk in with the sleeves and all they do is fully test the block and then mill it out for the sleeves and install. That way I can find the best deal on the sleeves on my own. Not deal with whatever they decide to charge me to order them and add their margin.

My next question would be...

Where is the best place to buy these sleeves online?

So, again JE Robison wrote an intresting blog article on rebuilding blocks, you should read it if you haven't

JE Robison Service — the blog: Search results for slipped liner

Second, I have heard, and I have no experience doing this that, you should have them deck it, put liners in, and have them install the crank and barrings.

Well there seems to be nothing specific on LA and Darton's pages about the Rover.

I take it I would need to contact them directly to order what I need for the Land Rover?

Thank you. That site is going to be very useful.

Just wondering what the price is going to be to get it shipped to Alaska.

$5 says it will cost less to get it shipped from the UK than what it costs for me to get anything off amazon up here from the east coast. (it's ridiculous...)

I ordered my liners from Turner Engineering out of the UK. Check them out, good prices and fast shipping. I'm in Canada and had them within a week. They are the Darton liners and my shop had no problem installing them, just some extra honing time. Had them polish the crank and instal with new bearing, and instal new ring and fit pistons. $2100 plus the cost of my liners, about $100 a piece from Turner.
