A complete set of plug wires is 8, and they sell them for the '98.
For a never done it before person it will take 2 hrs or so, I can do my truck plugs and wires in under a hour.

The same wires fit your 98 as fit any D1 with the 4.0. Changing the plugs and wires is a simple process but take your time and do one wire at a time so you don't cross wires. The hardest part of the job is fitting the larger 8mm wires into the holders for the factory 7mm. Takes a little force but it can be done.

Per Linda at Apex the correct part number for 4.0 Disco I Magnecors is 80142. On their website you would choose 99 Disco I 4.0.

I ordered mine yesterday and the discount code does not apply to magnecors.

FWIW, if you're talking about Bosch Platinums, there have been a lot of reported problems with using those in D1's. A few people say they haven't had issues.

I'm using NGK Platinums and Magnecor right now. They were a definite upgrade over the STI wires and Champion plugs.

Get some dielectric grease and use plenty of it on the boots.
