Manual Disco owners...
do you find it really easy to grind gears when shifting, especially in a harder acceleration situation like highway merging, or do i just have bad syncros or something?
ive had my truck for 20k miles, but i just got back from a long time abroad and have been driving it for the first time in awhile and notice that it's hard to shift without hearing grinding. and i dont think its my fault... every car ive owned since i was 16 has been manual

How many miles on the truck? More than likely your syncros are going bad. When was the last time the fluid in the tranny was changed?
Just a hint from a truck driver who only uses a clutch on starts and stops, let your RPMs fall 300-400 RPMs before you try to go into the next gear. Pull the shifter into neutral, pause (I usually count to 2) then go into the next higher gear. You may have to experiment a little and find the right timing but it should be pretty close to that range.
Funny story, I have gotten so used to not using a clutch when I drive tractor trailers that I can do it without a peep out of the tranny. If I use the clutch it throws my timing off and I grind like a rookie driver.
