Exclamation Manual and Sport Lights Come On in 03 Disco

Lately both the lights come on when I shift into gear and do not come to complete stop. Now it's getting worse when my wife is driving it. She had to stop three times today, shut off ignition and startup to reset. Any help, we have a appt. scheduled with dealership at 11 Eastern time.

Don't waste your money at the dealer ship, it will be a painful experience.
Send me your number and I'll call and walk you thru what to do to fix it.

My daughter has had her 2004 Disco for about 2 months, and it has just started with the manual and sport mode flashing lights. Sometimes it clears when restarting the vehicle, but usually the flashing lights persists once shifted into drive. Vehicle seems to stay in 3rd gear as well.
Short of going to dealer, what can be done to check or resolve the issue?
Thanks

Go to AutoZone and have your battery and alternator tested. (free)
The truck is low on voltage and the transmission is going into "limp" mode which is 3rd gear only and the flashing "S" and "M" lights.
The transmission computer is not getting enough power.

Went to AutoZone - battery and alternator are fine. I guess it will be a trip to the dealer (and the bank!).

No, no trip to the dealer needed.
You have low battery voltage.
Take it to another auto parts store and try again.
Watch them test your battery and alt.
You can watch the machine they use, the alt needs to be putting out at least 13.5 volts, thats the min.

Make sure they load test the system too.
All the dealer is going to do is sell you a new battery and alt.

You might have a loose belt, bad belt tensioner or a bad battery or alt.
All of these are easy DIY jobs and the most expensive part of them all is the alt, $200 at AutoZone.

Dealer says it is a bad "XYZ" switch, and $680 to replace with used part ($1100 for new!).
I asked what the alternator voltage output was, they will call back after they ask technician.

Default Same issue here

I just had my battery and alt tested and here are my results...

Battery: "good - recharge" (?), voltage =12.64v, measured 556cca, rated 600 cca

Alt: "no problems", no load =13.64v, loaded =13.43v

I'm going to hook the battery up to some little charger we have overnight...but what do these numbers tell me? If it isn't the battery or alt, what's else?
P.S. my "M" and "S" lights have been flashing the last 4 times when started up, and even during these tests and the 1/2 mile drive to and from Advance.

Thanks.

You need a new alternator.
I cant believe they told you that it was good when the loaded voltage should be over 14 volts.
Per their numbers the output drops under load, thats not right, it is supposed to go up when loaded.

And THAT is why I now only use them for free testing, free rentals of tools, and free disposing of fluids...

And yes, the guy only told me and read exactly what the machine told him. Parrots I say. Sucks that I need a new alt though...any tips on best value?
