On the market
Hi all;
I'm looking into getting atruck, something with 4x4, still undecided on brand and type. Found a nice looking Disco II with 100,000 kms, 2001. Asking $13,900. As far as I can tell, sounds well worth it.
1 - Worth the $$?
2 - What are the typical maintenance issues with LR Discovery's? (ie. Dodge was known for the tranny problems @ ~150,000 kms)

Located in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada (North side of Great Slave Lake) but the vehicle is in Edmonton, I work for an airline here, so travelling to get the vehicle isn't a problem. And yes, for the age of the vehicle, mileage, and condition, would you say its worth me spending $100 just to go down and take a look? The following is a link to the vehicle I am looking at:

Well I am not sure how much that is in US$, but it is WAY over priced.
It is a VERY nice looking trk.
But to compare...http://edmunds.autotrader.com/fyc/vd...p;rdpage=thumb

Way to much, clearly the guy has put alot of work into it and kept it up nicely but with that mileage it is about 3K-4K to high. I bought mine with no extras, with 89,000 miles, for $8,000.
Great looking truck, but you can do better on price.
Typical problems to look out for is: The 2003 model has some oil pump issues, not all, but some. You will also find that alot of rovers for sale were neglected before being sold and may need a major tune up in the early stages of ownership. Some people say to set aside $1,000 for first time repairs. The best thing you can do if you find one (hopefully for a better price) is bring it to a mechanic and have it looked over before you buy.

Please understand guys... thats a little over 15k american funds the way our canadian dollar is these days, and the mileage is in KMs, so in miles it's about 62.5 thousand... but even still you figure it's over priced?
Yes still over priced. I am not sure if cars run more expensive in canada but here that would be overpriced. It does have low(ish) mileage (and I can proudly say I converted it right!) but that is still a steep price. Maybe you can talk him in to lowing it a few k's becase that is a nice disco and it seems well taken care of. But if not, you can find some quality disco's that are much cheaper than that.
