My reservoir is leaking brake fluid at the bottom where it sits on the master cylinder. Im curious if I should get a new reservoir kit or the master cylinder and reservoir? Just want to fix the leak. Thanks

 

Mine was leaking like that a few years ago. The reservoir sits on a gasket and becomes loose over time. What I did was take a few zip ties and wrapped them around the reservoir and the cylinder itself (top to bottom). This crushed the reservior against the cylinder and stopped the leak. I put one on the front and one on the rear (make sure they are tight, put even pressure, and do not interfere with the operation of the cap). I was worried about it the first few weeks but after 4 years without leaking I trust the fix. Hope it helps

Atlantic british sells a repair kit or you can buy a new MC at rock auto fairly cheap...

 

Funny.. Mine and a another buddies started leaking at the same spot in the last month as well.

 

Is there just gaskets out there for sale or are they part of the reservoir or cylinder?

 

I have a similar leak. I suspect I will need to pick-up a Master Cylinder Repair Kit to fix the leak? Any tips/rick to this little project before I get started?

 

Ive had this same issue. I took the resevoir of and put some gasket maker on the bad areas. I stopped the leak for a while but its back. Might try the zip tie trick.

 

not really looking for a band aid, just wanted to see if there was any pit falls to look out for.

R&R, bleed brakes, done. Any suggestions? I figure an hour project?

 

There is a retainer clip on the bottom front the the reservoir. PITA to get off. Once the clip is pulled forward, the reservoir pulls up and off. You will see two 0rings. I bet the rear one is bad.
