Default master cylinder grommets

99 disco
have the classic grommet leak under the master reservoir . It was just a small leak here and there until I had it jacked up in the garage for the winter doing a tranny and t-case swap.
now that I'm done it has all leaked out so I need to replace the grommets. found a bunch of older threads and realize you can get the re-build kit from British or the dealer. want to do it asap so I thought I would check if any other new info on the grommets or kits has become available???
Thanks!

I have found a grommet supplier in Australia. I have an order enroute and will verify the fit when they arrive. The image appears correct.

I read through some old threads and found out that the audi master uses the same grommets ( at least in the D1) and they are available at audihaus online or any audi dealer for about $32 total for the 2 online and about $65 at the dealer.
I'm not sure yet if the same grommets are used in the D2. They sure look like the same in the Part Pics online though so ???? I was going to the Audi dealer to buy them ( just the 2 grommets) but figured for another $40 I'd just buy the rebuild kit from British.

$65 for two grommets? or for another $30 you can get the entire rebuild kit and not have to worry if they are the correct ones or some other part being worn.

The Audi ones (D1) do not fit .I tried them myself. They are very similar, but have a thick lip attached as well as lacking a recessed area around the spout hole. Additionally, the hole in the protrusion is too small to fit. There may be another Audi grommet that fits, but the numbers given so far are for the D1.

I just received the Aussie ones today and they fit. The new one with the protrusion does not have the recessed area like the original but seems to work as far as snugness goes but have not tried with fluid yet. The reservoir is noticeably snug and tight now. The clip was bit difficult to put on but it went on.

Shipping took one week.

The exchange from Aussie dollars to US was $18 + $1.80 GST (tax)=$19.80 & shipping $12.28 + $1.22 GST= $13.50 TOTAL $33.32. (Total should be $33.30?)

I think am having the same problem which I've discovered yesterday. Can I just pull out the reservoir? Or are there screws or something holding it down...

A U shaped clip pulls out toward the front of the vehicle. Look under front side of reservoir. Clip is metal wire about the thickness of coat hanger wire. May need pliers to get it out and back in.

First the parking brake cable snapped or something and now this.....Good thing is it's forcing me to learn to fix it myself which is good.

see my post under " master, grommets, brakes and bleeding"
I've done it inside and out if you need any advice!
Either way buy a cheap fluid pump ($8/9) and drain the res. before removing unless you want brake fluid all over. Nasty Shat..........
take a long flathead screwdriver and find the curved wire looking clip under the res.
( towards front of vehicle and in between the 2 output brake lines of the master) and simply pull it towards you. Once the clip is out the res. just pulls up without much fanfare........the 2 grommets that leak are in the master Res. holes. Most likely brittle as plastic like mine.

In case someone needs the grommets only, they are available on e-bay now.
